West Orange Charter School
United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida
For over 65 years, United Cerebral Palsy has been delivering programs and services to the Central Florida community. To extend their impact within the West Orange community and meet the increasing demand for their services, a new campus became essential. As a committed partner to UCP, the design journey commenced for their fourth new campus, known as the UCP West Orange Campus.
The design of the campus aims to provide students with access to hands-on education and therapy programs in a vibrant and playful environment. The school encompasses a range of spaces, including classrooms catering to pre-school through 6th grade, a therapy gym, evaluation rooms, a high sensory classroom with muted lights and finishes, toddler rooms, offices, a secure administration area, and a versatile cafeteria/multi-purpose space. A covered canopy adorns the glass window entrance, utilizing color-blocking to create an inviting and secure space. The design seamlessly integrates inclusive therapy rooms, sensory-rich classrooms, toddler-friendly areas, secure administrative offices, and a flexible cafeteria, creating a unified and harmonious environment. Infused with a whimsical hot air balloon theme, this space radiates a sense of playfulness and fosters an engaging atmosphere for learning and development.
To further enrich the student experience, the campus includes outdoor areas meticulously planned for recreational activities. These spaces encompass a tot lot, youth lot, play courts, and expansive field areas, offering opportunities for physical activity, social engagement, and outdoor learning experiences.
