Orlando, FL – August 10, 2026 – Schenkel Shultz, a leading Central Florida architecture and interior design studio, has designed a new 28,500-square-foot building at Bishop Moore Catholic High School that will unite the school’s award-winning fine and performing arts programs with its primary administrative functions under one roof. The project represents a transformative investment in the future of one of Central Florida’s most established educational institutions, bringing together programs that have long been dispersed across campus into a cohesive destination for learning, creativity and leadership.
Founded in 1954, Bishop Moore has become the largest Catholic high school in the Orlando metropolitan area and remains the cornerstone of the region’s Catholic community. Decades of growth have underscored the need for a permanent home for the school’s thriving arts programs and a centralized administrative hub.
Strategically positioned along Edgewater Drive, the new building creates a welcoming front door for the campus and serves a beacon of the school’s Catholic faith to the broader community.
The administrative wing defines the campus edge and creates a strong public presence along one of the city’s primary corridors. A modern interpretation of the school’s traditional brick language will provide continuity with the existing campus while elevating its architectural expression. Interior spaces will consolidate offices into a cohesive hub, including a welcome center, administrative offices and collaborative meeting spaces.
The performing arts center will make an equally bold statement with double-height storefront glass that opens into a central lobby. Designed with functionality at its core, this space will serve simultaneously as a reception area, circulation spine and flexible art gallery.
Instructional spaces support a comprehensive range of programs including dance, orchestra, chorus and visual arts. Designated studios for drawing, painting and sculpture are complemented by digital media and photography labs. The heart of the new building is a fully equipped performance theater that integrates a stage, sound booth and drama room to support all aspects of a production.
“Bishop Moore sought a connected campus that reflects the strength of their academic, artistic and spiritual community,” said Michelle Chandler, Partner at Schenkel Shultz. “Our design unifies these functions while creating a sacred space that personifies the school’s Catholic identity and its commitment to outstanding education.”
With more than four decades of educational design expertise, Schenkel Shultz is proud to collaborate with Bishop Moore Catholic High School to deliver a much-needed home for the school’s award-wining arts programs and administrative functions. The design of the Center for the Arts establishes a campus landmark that honors the school’s seven-decade legacy, while positioning it for its next chapter of excellence.
