North Port, FL, July 24, 2024 – Schenkel Shultz, an architecture and design studio headquartered in Orlando with Sarasota offices, has been selected to design the new headquarters for the North Port Police Department (NPPD). Located in the heart of the nation’s second fastest developing community, the three-story police headquarters will span 108,900 square feet, set to become the city’s future center.
Recognizing a critical need for additional space, the city hired Schenkel Shultz to design a new home for the community’s rapidly growing police force. The facility will include advanced amenities aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and community engagement.
The design includes an open lobby adorned with a prominently etched police badge, symbolizing the department’s unwavering commitment to community safety. A Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) integrated into the community room will elevate safety and security through advanced monitoring capabilities.
“We are proud to support the North Port Police Department and the community with a secure environment,” said Aaron Jacobson, Associate Principal with Schenkel Shultz. “Our adaptable design ensures readiness for the city’s future growth, meeting evolving needs while prioritizing safety and service.”
Outside, a community plaza invites gatherings and events, complemented by boardwalks through natural wetlands for peaceful retreats. A tiered block stair serves both as seating and a protective barrier, enhancing safety and aesthetics. Adjacent, a serene ceremony garden dedicated to police announcements, badge ceremonies, and retirements, honors the bravery and service of law enforcement.
With its innovative design and commitment to safety, the North Port Police Department headquarters will serve as a vital community center, embodying dedication to the security and well-being of residents and visitors alike.
