Orlando, FL – February 25, 2025 – Schenkel Shultz, a leading Central Florida architectural and interior design studio, has been selected to design a significant expansion and renovation to the Orangewood Church and Christian School campus.
The $25 million expansion is designed to meet the evolving needs of both the church and school strengthening connectivity and accessibility across the campus. The two-story, 63,950 square foot addition includes a sanctuary and theater seating up to 814, a welcoming public lobby, classrooms for faith-based education, church administration spaces, and a dedicated youth ministry area. Thoughtful design elements will create an inspiring environment where both spiritual development and academic learning thrive.
Located next to the church, Orangewood Christian School blends academic rigor with a foundation of faith, offering a college-preparatory education that nurtures the whole student. Serving nearly 900 students in grades K4-12, the school’s biblically grounded curriculum prepares graduates for both scholarly achievement and purposeful lives. A sense of community rooted in relationship and discipleship flourishes on campus.
The school expansion features four state-of-the-art STEM labs, four classrooms, and an expanded administration suite. Additional considerations prioritize safety and security, incorporating a secure, single-point entry for enhanced protection. Renovations to the existing building will introduce dynamic arts spaces and bring the facility up to current code standards.
“The Orangewood Church and School Expansion responds to the community’s growing needs with a thoughtful and much-needed addition,” said Patrick Rauch, AIA, Principal at Schenkel Shultz. “We focused on creating vibrant, distinct entries for both the School and the Sanctuary, using daylight as a material to elevate the experience of the space.”
For 50 years, Orangewood has been a beacon of support and faith in the community. This project extends its rich legacy, reflecting the church’s ambitious mission to create purpose-built spaces for future generations to gather, learn, and worship together.
